Misalignments
of a horse affect the rider and visa versa.
Correction of these mis-alignments not only
improve the comfort and safety of the ride
for both, but the balance and alignment
necessary for the competition rider. Thus
SYMMETRY IN MOTION was created. This video
gives the average horse owner the ‘tools’
to evaluate and treat myofascial restrictions
that could be causing these misalignments.
Doris Kay Halstead graduated 1966 from the
SUNY at Buffalo School of Physical Therapy.
In 1976, with the purchase of her own horses
and horse boarding farm, Primary Colors
Stables, her experiences began involving
sports medicine as it relates to horseback
riding. Rehabilitation of her favorite horse
Duster lead her to develop myofascial release
techniques for horses as well as people,
and in 6/92 – 6/93 DRESSAGE AND CT
published a series of her articles (entitled
Healing the Horse), outlining these techniques.
Carrie Cameron graduated from the University
of Wisconsin School of Physical Therapy
in 1971. Specializing in postural asymmetries
and myofascial release techniques, and melding
work on riders with the work Doris was doing
on horses, and alliance was formed which
eventually became “Prism Healing”.
“Prism Healing” represents the
multiple facets involved in the process
of becoming and staying well. No part of
the body can be addressed without assessing
the whole body, and considering the mental,
emotional, and spiritual components of a
pain or problem is also necessary. Finally,
treating the horse/rider combination for
the ultimate result of a balanced and beautiful
ride. |
