for horses past the basic stages of training.
Maurice Wright, influence by the techniques
of Kell Jeffery, has adopted an advanced
and retreat method of training that encourages
the horse to think things out on its own.
The horse learns without the usual trauma
and fear associated with sacking out and
roughshod breaking methods. The end result
is a horse that wants to learn with a cooperative,
receptive attitude.
Along with instruction, this videotape includes
interesting and historical accounts of the
Australian stock horse. Background information
on the Jeffery Method is also featured,
with rare, black & white film footage
of Kell Jeffery in his seventies actually
working horses.
Kell Jeffery’s unique method of horse
handling is based on the belief that it
isn’t necessary to break a horse’s
spirit to get its cooperation. While Jeffery’s
method was considered controversial prior
to the 1950’s, today the method is
widely accepted worldwide. Now more and
more horse owners are learning to communicate
